The Bountiful Guideline Lifestyle

The Bountiful Guideline Lifestyle (BGL) is a nutritional guideline focused on the foods we were given as a gift. Foods that are whole, natural, unaltered, and free from manipulations provide the necessary FUEL to optimize health and metabolism. So, NO gimmicks here, NO tricks, just food the way it was meant to be consumed.

The lifestyle helps stabilize and maintain many of the root causes of diabetes, obesity, heart disease, rampant cholesterol, immune deficiencies, and many other health concerns. Following the BGL exploits and removes hidden stress that affects these common health concerns.

IT'S NOT A DIET
IT'S A LIFESTYLE

The Good

"The Good" are ingredients and meals that properly balance the three major food groups: Carbs, Proteins, and Fats, always together, along with the non-starchy vegetables, thus the basis of the Bountiful Guideline (BGL) is to Never Eat Alone.

This balance should consist of approximately 30 grams of carbs, a minimum of 20 grams of protein, and a natural source of fat in every meal. Sugar has 4 grams of carb per tsp so long as you measure it and keep it within the guidelines, it's okay. I prefer raw sugar. I also love those starchy vegetables as a carb. The ones that are hard to cut through are the ones usually counted and the vegetables that are easy to cut through are usually not a carb. Protein sources from animals should be clean of any hormones or antibiotics if possible. I always recommend putting your money in the meat. Fish and seafood should always be wild caught and be cautious of the labeling, it can be tricky. These balanced meals allow the brain to get its required sugar and the body to have the necessary fuel to repair and heal. To exclude any one of the major food groups shifts the balance, causing the body to store energy as fat or to break down your own proteins to obtain the necessary fuel. Balance is the key in optimizing health and metabolism.

The Bad

"The Bad" ingredients are those that have been manipulated and overly processed from the natural whole food. This includes high fructose corn syrup. The balance of the meals is crucial for proper metabolic rate. Too much sugar or not enough is a problem. Too much fat or not enough is a problem. The same is true for protein. This includes carb/sugar loading, starvation, and diets that are restricting caloric intake which prevents true health and metabolism. Many of these foods are obviously imbalanced such as cake and cookies, but other examples include smoothies, sweet tea, and cereal. Sweet tea can have over 100 g of sugar and cereal over 60 grams. The smoothie can have an excess of 150 grams of carbs in one serving and up to 100 grams in the SUGAR-FREE one! This exceeds the daily goal of approximately 125 grams of carbs in one drink. The excess sugar will turn into fat/cholesterol.

The Ugly

"The Ugly" are ingredients and meals that are nutritionally empty, manipulated from their natural form, and processed foods that will only FUEL illness and obesity. This includes items such as artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, and preservatives. Artificial color is a problem and causes untold amounts of allergic reactions and rashes. These items should never be in your diet. They do not contribute to your daily intake of protein, carbs, and fat, but only serve to cause harm. Many of these ingredients are man made or manipulated to the point that they are unrecognizable as real food. Sucralose, the artificial sweetener was developed by adding three chlorine molecules to table sugar making it 600x as sweet as natural sugar and the brain is tricked into thinking this is true. It creates a vicious cycle that can create endless issues.

This also includes packaged sugary cakes that are empty of nutrition. They have been processed to the point they will never ruin. Margarine is another processed food that should be avoided.
